Solar Rebates QLD

Put More Money Back in Your Pocket

Switching to solar should be simple, affordable, and backed by people you can trust. If you’re weighing up solar for your home or business, RAD NRG is here to make the process easy. From expert advice and tailored system designs to quality installations and ongoing support. We help you make informed decisions that deliver long-term savings, energy independence, and complete peace of mind.

With generous Queensland and federal solar rebates available, there’s never been a better time to make the switch. Our team takes the guesswork out of the process by identifying every incentive you’re eligible for, handling the paperwork, and ensuring you maximise your savings from day one.

What Solar Government Rebates Can I Get in QLD?

If you’re installing solar in Queensland, there are two major federal government incentives that can help lower your upfront costs. Whether you’re investing in solar panels, battery storage, or both, these rebates can save you thousands and make switching to clean energy much more affordable.

Even better, you don’t need to navigate confusing government forms or wait months for a refund. At RAD NRG, we calculate your eligible rebates, apply the discounts directly to your quote, and take care of the paperwork for you.

Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) Rebate

The STC rebate is Australia's long-running solar incentive that helps reduce the upfront cost of installing an eligible solar PV system. Rather than receiving cash back after installation, the rebate is applied as an upfront discount on your solar system.

The value of your rebate depends on size, location and the expected amount of electricity your system will generate.

As the scheme is gradually phased out each year, the number of available certificates decreases over time. This means the sooner you install solar, the greater the rebate you're likely to receive.

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

Already have solar? Or planning to install a battery with your new system? The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is designed to make battery storage more affordable, with eligible households and businesses receiving around 30% off the upfront cost of an approved battery system.

The rebate is available for battery systems between 5kWh and 100kWh, whether they're installed with a new solar system or added to an existing one.

Battery storage lets you use more of the solar energy you generate instead of sending it back to the grid, helping you reduce electricity bills and gain greater energy independence.

Ready To Maximise Your Savings?

Government rebates can sound complicated, but claiming them doesn’t have to be.

When you choose RAD NRG, we take care of everything, from checking your eligibility and calculating your savings to applying the rebates directly to your quote and lodging the required paperwork. That means less stress, fewer surprises, and more money staying in your pocket from the very beginning.

How Much Is The Solar Rebate Worth?

STC values move with the certificate market and your exact postcode, so treat these as a guide. We give you the precise figure when we quote your roof.

System Size Indicative STC Discount Best Suited To
6.6 kW ~$2,800 – $3,200 Smaller homes with modest daytime energy use
10 kW ~$4,200 – $4,800 Family homes with air-conditioning and a pool
13.2 kW ~$5,500 – $6,300 Large homes or households planning to add a battery
Battery (10 kWh usable) ~ $2,500 off (on top of solar rebate) Storing daytime solar to use during evening peak demand
Queensland sits in one of the best solar zones in Australia for STC rebates. That means the more sunshine your area gets, the bigger your rebate.

Solar Rebates Are The Biggest It Will Ever Be Today

Both schemes reduce on a set timetable to 2030, and the battery rate drops every six months. Installing sooner locks in the larger discount. We will tell you honestly what you qualify for, with no pressure.

Rebate Eligibility & process

Who Qualifies, And How Do You Claim It?

To qualify, your system must use Clean Energy Council approved products and be installed by a Solar Accreditation Australia accredited installer. You sign one STC assignment form, and your installer creates and trades the certificates on your behalf, applying the value as an upfront discount. RAD NRG manages the whole process end to end.

1. We Assess Your Property

We look at your roof, your usage and your budget to size a system that actually fits how you live, then confirm the exact rebates you qualify for.

2. You Get An Itemised Quote

Your quote shows the gross price, the STC discount, and the battery rebate as separate lines, so you can see exactly where every dollar of savings comes from. No inflated sticker price with the discount bolted back on.

3. We Install & Apply The Discount

Our licensed team installs the system, lodges everything with the Clean Energy Regulator’s REC Registry, and the rebate value is already deducted from your costoff your price. You start saving on the next bill.

4. You Sign

The STC assignment form gives us permission to claim your certificates. That is the only admin on your side. Certificates must be created within 12 months of install, we generally request a signature on the day of installation, after completion.

More About QLD Solar Rebates

State Rebates, Loans And Feed-In Tariffs

Supercharged Solar for Renters

If you own a rental property, the Queensland Government’s Supercharged Solar for Renters program pays landlords a rebate to put solar on investment properties. It is designed to close the gap where the landlord pays for the system but the tenant gets the bill savings. If you are a Central Queensland landlord, talk to us about whether your property qualifies.

Feed-in tariffs

Once your system is running, your retailer pays you a feed-in tariff for surplus power you export to the grid. It is not a rebate, but it shortens your payback, and pairing panels with a battery means you export less at low daytime rates and lean on stored power through the evening peak instead. We size systems with that trade-off in mind.

The RAD NRG Difference

Local
expertise

We live and work in Central Queensland, so we understand how local conditions affect solar performance. From intense heat and coastal weather to grid limitations and rebate opportunities, we design systems that are built for real-world conditions here, not generic setups that fall short.

Premium components only

We believe solar is only as good as the parts behind it. That’s why we only use trusted Tier 1 brands and proven, high-performance equipment. It’s technology we’re confident installing and comfortable standing behind for the long haul.

Accredited & licenced

Your system is installed by qualified professionals who meet strict industry standards. We’re fully SAA accredited and operate under Electrical Contractors Licence 91606, ensuring every installation is safe, compliant, and completed to the highest standard.

Warranties that stack up

Depending on the brand, equipment warranties range from 10 to 30 years, and every installation is covered by our own 10-year workmanship warranty. That means protection on both the product and the install itself, long after the job is done.

Treated like a neighbour

We’re a 100% Australian family-owned business, and that shapes everything we do. Our customers are locals. That’s why we focus on honest advice, quality work, and long-term relationships built on trust.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not for solar panels specifically. There is no standalone Queensland state panel rebate in 2026, and the Battery Booster grant closed in 2024. Queensland homeowners rely on the two federal schemes instead: the STC discount under the SRES for panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program for storage. Landlords can also access the state’s Supercharged Solar for Renters program.

For a 6.6kW system in Central Queensland, the STC discount is typically around $2,800 to $3,200, depending on the certificate market price and your install date. Because Queensland is in the highest STC zone, you earn more certificates here than in the southern states for the same system size. We confirm the exact figure when we quote your specific address.

The program still gives a discount of around 30% on an eligible battery, but from 1 May 2026 it moved to a tiered structure that steps down every six months toward 2030. For most standard home batteries under 14kWh, the rebate currently works out at roughly $252 per usable kWh. The battery must be CEC-approved and VPP-capable, though joining a virtual power plant remains optional.

Yes. The Cheaper Home Batteries Program applies to homes with new or existing rooftop solar, so you can add an eligible battery to a system you installed years ago and still claim the discount. RAD NRG retrofits batteries to existing solar regularly. We will check your current inverter and switchboard first to confirm what pairs cleanly with your setup.

No. You sign a single STC assignment form, and we handle the rest: creating the certificates, trading them, and lodging the install with the Clean Energy Regulator’s REC Registry. The rebate value is applied as an upfront discount on your quote, so there is nothing to claim back later and no waiting on a refund.

Yes, we retrofit batteries to existing solar systems. Contact us today for a battery solution tailored to your needs.

We only work with trusted Tier 1 solar and battery brands that have a proven track record for performance, reliability, and long-term support. This includes manufacturers known for strong efficiency ratings, solid product warranties, and consistent performance in Australian conditions.

Your system is backed by two layers of protection for complete peace of mind:

  • Manufacturer warranties: Typically range from 10 to 30 years, depending on the brand and product (panels, inverters, and batteries each have their own coverage periods).
  • Workmanship warranty: RAD NRG provides a 10-year installation warranty, covering the quality and integrity of our workmanship.

This means you’re protected not just by the product manufacturers, but also by our own commitment to doing the job properly from day one.
